Steve earned his B.S. in Business with a Finance concentration and a minor in Construction Management from Colorado State University in 1982. He spent many years working as an Estimator, Project Engineer and Project Manager for a general contractor who brought him to Iowa in 1988 to build the 801 Grand tower. After taking on the role of Project Manager for Swanson Gentleman, Inc. in 1990, he purchased part of their assets and started Skold Construction Services in 1992. Throughout his years, Steve has been very active in the Construction community; serving on the boards of numerous organizations, including Master Builders of Iowa and the Iowa Construction Specifications Institute. In his spare time Steve enjoys traveling, and spending time with his wife, Sue, and twin daughters.
Sue is responsible for the administrative functions for all of our office locations; including contract documents, human resources and financial management. Her incredible organizational skills are the glue that keeps our offices together and running smoothly. After a long day at office, Sue looks forward to curling up on the couch with a good book and a glass wine. In the rare instance she chooses to take time away from the office, Sue takes full advantage of it with her husband, Steve, and twin daughters, Megan and Laura. Traveling to places like Ireland, Spain and Africa, Sue is always up for the next adventure!
Part Rockstar and part Bookkeeper, Shanna has been keeping the Skold staff organized, upbeat and moving at the speed of light since 2006! She is that smiling face you are greeted with when you come through our front door and that happy voice on the other end of your phone call. In her free time she loves motorcycle rides, reading, camping and simply enjoying life with her family and friends. With her bubbly, outgoing personality, it’s no surprise Shanna’s favorite day of the year is St. Patrick’s Day. Getting all decked out in green attire, watching the parade and sipping on some green beers – Does life get any better?

Deb’s love of traveling makes her the perfect Sales Associate for Skold. She spends her days traveling throughout the Midwest visiting General Contractors and Architects. Although most of her days are spent on the road, she still manages to squeeze in Zumba, Yoga, knitting and a good game of golf whenever possible. One interesting fact that most people don’t know about Deb is that she has her motorcycle license. Deb and her husband, Steve, have seven children – Risa, Brent, Cara, Brianna, Jennifer, Rebecca and Molly. In addition to her large family, Deb has two cats, Scout and Jem. It’s hard to imagine Deb having a moment of free time; but when she does, her true passion is remodeling homes.
When Jon took a part-time summer job mixing epoxy floors for us in 2006 he never imagined he’d eventually become an Estimator/Project Manager for Skold Door Company. Jon is our resident specialty door guru. If you’ve got an open space you need to close off, Jon’s your guy. Earning his B.A. from Iowa State University, Jon is one of the many Cyclone fans here at Skold. Jon spends his free time with his wife, Jesse, his daughter and his yellow lab, Aris, and enjoys running, fly fishing and traveling to his favorite place on earth, Colorado. Jon is also known to brew a pretty mean beer and will never turn down a good IPA.

Originally from Eastern Iowa, Jason is a die-hard Hawkeye and Chicago Cubs fan. After earning his degree from the University of Iowa in Management Information Systems, Jason quickly knew corporate America wasn’t for him. He entered the construction industry in 1998 and hasn’t looked back since. When it comes to floor coatings, caulking or grouting, Jason’s got you covered. It’s a safe bet Jason will be the first person in the office every morning – usually before the sun comes up - but come Friday afternoon, he’s ready to get his boat out and fish in the next walleye tournament. When he’s not tournament walleye fishing, he spends his weekends with his wife, Rebecca, and daughter, Emma, at their cottage on the Mississippi River.
