Skold Specialty Contracting is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented college student to join our Rapid City, SD team as a Part-Time Project Manager/Estimator. This role is perfect for students pursuing a degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field. The selected candidate will gain hands-on experience in project management and estimation, working closely with our current project manager and occasionally assisting with field installations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan Review: Analyze and review construction plans and specifications to understand project scope, requirements, and timelines.
- Use Local Plan Rooms: Utilize local plan rooms to access project documents, blueprints, and specifications for bidding and estimating purposes.
- Estimate Pricing: Obtain and compare pricing from multiple manufacturers and suppliers to develop accurate and competitive project estimates.
- Collaborate with Project Manager: Work under the guidance of the current project manager, assisting in various aspects of project planning, coordination, and management.
- Field Installation Assistance: Occasionally visit project sites to assist the crew with field installations, gaining practical experience and understanding of on-site operations.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a college or university program related to construction management, engineering, or a similar field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Basic understanding of construction plans and specifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience or coursework related to construction, project management, or estimation.
- Familiarity with construction industry software (e.g., Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Procore).
Schedule:
Flexible hours to accommodate class schedules, with an expectation of 15-20 hours per week.
Compensation:
$15-20/hour, depending on experience.
